3PExpress Real-Time Target

Flexible and Powerful Real-Time Control

The Triphase Real Time Target (RTT) is the brain of the 3PExpress™ product line. These powerful controllers can be programmed and monitored via Matlab/Simulink® or directly in C/C++.  The seamless integration in Matlab/Simulink® enables you to easily switch between off-line simulation and on-line, real-time testing. 3PExpress Real Time  Targets support EtherCAT and CAN field bus systems for hardware interfacing such as analog and digital I/O. They connect to the 3PExpress PM5/15/90 Power Modules for the prototyping of power conversion applications.

Matlab/Simulink® Engineering interface for rapid prototyping

With the 3PExpress real-time target, innovative control algorithms are implemented and tested on the fly in four easy steps.

  1. Control strategies are implemented graphically as a block diagram in Simulink.
  2. With a single click, this block diagram is automatically translated to C-code using Matlab’s Real-Time WorkshopTM. The C-code in downloaded to the target where it is compiled into an executable.
  3. Next, the compiled code is executed in real-time with access to all connected power and I/O modules.
  4. System performance is monitored directly in the Matlab/Simulink Engineering environment without the need to create dedicated user interfaces.

The 3PExpress design cycle closes the path from idea to results in just a couple of minutes, dramatically boosting R&D efficiency.

3PExpress Real-Time targets come as preinstalled units containing:

  • Matlab/Simulink® engineering interface
  • Real-time Linux OS and dedicated network drivers
  • EtherCAT and CAN fieldbus interfaces
  • Data and Web Server Services for data-logging and web-based user interfaces
